Chinese New Year is the most important holiday in China. In 2021, Chinese New Year will begin on February 12. Usually Chinese New Year festival period lasts for 16 days, starting from Chinese New Year’s eve to the Lantern Festival, but the situation this year is relatively complicated.
- The epidemic prevention&control
- Power supply shortage due to winter temperatures plunge
- International logistics shortage
Chances are that the factories in Guangdong Province will close earlier. The provisional cutoff date is Jan 10 and the provisional re-opening date after CNY is Feb 20, see below. The specific time will be notified in advance. So if not be well prepared, the Chinese New Year shutdown will definitely affect your business.
Halted production
During the Chinese New Year holiday, all factories close and employees go on holiday.
So you will not be able to get the products during the holiday break as all production will come to a halt.
Reduced product quality
When factories reopen after the Chinese holiday, workers may not come back at the same time, and sometimes not at all.
When workers don’t come back, factories must replace them quickly, which leads to lower quality and untrained staff working on production lines. As expected, when new workers are on the line, many products will not be produced properly.
Shipping delays
As per our experience, each year around CNY, almost all customers are stocking up. This can often lead to an overload of shipments that need to be made right before the holiday begins. Factor in the chance that many workers will be leaving early to get a head start on their holiday, meaning fewer employees in the weeks leading up to the Chinese New Year, and there’s a good chance your shipment could be delayed in the buildup.
As per the market information, currently 6-8 plus lcd screens are in short supply and cost tends to be rising. Prices for X series and above will increase or decrease slightly according to market conditions.
We, therefore, advise all the customers to confirm orders required for the holiday break as soon as possible(the earlier, the better!).
Please take all the situations above into consideration and confirm with your suppliers in time!
